DIH presents Monthly Meetups – Third Thursday February

15 February @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm ACST

CDM Smith

CDM Smith invites you to join industry leaders, data analytics expert Andrew Barker and Tech Bakery’s Felix Baker, who will present Innovations in Environmental Monitoring and Data Communications.

This event provides an opportunity to hear from the leaders in this field and a chance to network with like minded professionals following the presentation.

Andrew Barker, CDM Smith – Leveraging data analytics to turn environmental and operational information into Insight

As the lead of data science and technology in Australia, Andrew loves finding wisdom in messy data. Andrew will discuss adding value to traditional programs by making the management and communication of data easy with tailored outputs to assist interpretation and communication and make the data more accessible through the delivery of interactive insights.

Felix Baker, Tech Bakery – New technology in water sample collection

Current processes for water sampling collection in toxic water bodies, such as mine water dams usually involves physical collection by personnel from a dinghy or the edge of the water body. This process is unsafe, but still a common method for sampling water in mine dams, creeks and lakes. Felix Baker from Tech Bakery will discuss how water-based drone technology can be used to collect water from potentially dangerous locations and also profile the waterbody bathymetry and undertake visual inspections. TechBakery’s AquaTractortm technology has been designed as a multi-use water-based delivery and service agent. Its modular design allows for the addition of multiple payloads and capabilities.
