The Northern Territory Angel Network (NTAN) has launched, bringing together local and international entrepreneurs, investors and professionals to fund and offer support to NT-based startups.
The launch of the network took place at the Darwin Innovation Hub, Northern Territory’s startup and innovation center on Wednesday and brought together more than 30 participants to discuss ways of creating funding mechanisms and support for Territorian businesses.
“We know that successful founders who have experience themselves in growing their companies for their own future generations, will typically give back to the start-up sector that they were once apart of” General Manager of the Darwin Innovation Hub, Emma Nesbitt.
“Fundraising is one of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs in the Northern Territory. The NTAN fills this gap providing a channel for startups to connect with our Asia Pacific and Territory network of Angel Investors, leading to game-changing capital and opportunities.”
“We need to accelerate the amount of angel capital in the market so that it keeps up with the growth of the number of start-ups coming from the Territory. Investments like these validate the economic value and potential of the companies, and encourages industry, as well as the start-up and investment ecosystem.
NTAN members are entrepreneurs, CEOs, venture capitalists and business leaders who have founded, funded and built successful companies. Together, with their experience in a wide array of industries, they create an extensive network of entrepreneurial opportunities for the top end.
