Puntaa is an online gaming startup run out of the Darwin Innovation Hub.
The company was founded in 2014 by three Brisbane men, Nick Heaney and brothers Jordan and Damon Oudejans. The initial concept was a peer-to-peer social betting app that allowed users to place digital handshake wagers on anything against each other for real cash. They obtained a licence from the NT Racing Commission last year and moved its headquarters to Darwin. It launched a Daily Fantasy platform targeted at the emerging esports market, a sleeping giant that has gained mainstream attention, with coverage and the backing of companies such as Amazon, ESPN and Alibaba. Esports is, without doubt, the next major vertical in the entertainment and wagering industries and Puntaa is well positioned to capitalise on its growth.
