Boosting Female Founders Consultation Outcomes

The Australian Government’s Boosting Female Founders Initiative was one of the measures announced in the Women’s Economic Security Package in November 2018 with public consultations taking place between 26 August and 4 October 2019.

The consultation process is now complete with the release of the Boosting Female Founders Initiative Consultation Outcomes Report (available on Consultation Hub).

Face-to-face consultations were conducted in each state and territory across Australia, with focus groups held in regional and metropolitan areas. Feedback was also received through the consultation hub survey and a webinar. There was a high level of engagement from stakeholders across the startup and innovation ecosystems. We received 323 submissions and heard directly from more than 380 participants about their views on the discussion paper released to guide consultations.

The consultations were considered to be an overwhelming success, identifying a number of important issues facing female entrepreneurs. Feedback provided by focus group participants was largely positive and supportive of the inclusive approach to developing the program. The consultation outcomes will inform the development of the Boosting Female Founders Initiative, set to be launched in early 2020.
