COVID-19 Communication from Darwin Innovation Hub

An important message from the Darwin Innovation Hub General Manager, Emma Nesbitt

Like everyone, we at the Darwin Innovation Hub have been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak very closely. I am writing to you because we value the health and well-being of all our tenants, staff, partners, visitors and public. COVID-19 is of major concern, and though there has only been 1 case accounted for in the Territory by a tourist, we are following the Northern Territory Governments guide in regards to travel and preventative measures.

The health and safety of our employees, Hub members, tenants and visitors to our offices is our top priority. We are also proactively working internally on how we best manage the situation and mitigate the risk.

Three important decisions were announced last night by Prime Minister Scott Morrison:

  1. Anyone who enters Australia from midnight on the 15th of March 2020 , including Australian’s returning home, must self-isolate for 14 days.
  2. All international cruise ships will be banned from Australian ports for at least the next 30 days.
  3. All non-essential, organised gatherings of more than 500 people will be banned from 16th of March 2020.

We are also recommending more social distancing measures in order to help slow down the spread of the virus. That means no more handshakes or hugs, and trying to keep a distance of 1.5 metres from each other, wherever possible when you are in public.

We recommend to community members to frequently wash their hands till their wrists and sanitise them thoroughly. In case of any travel plans, we request community members to keep us informed as this will help us take proper preventive measures.

All our workspaces have been disinfected thoroughly and this process will continue every week to maintain utmost hygiene standards.

During this time of uncertainty, I encourage everyone to keep the lines of communication open with your management team and your community. Please keep personal hygiene standards to a high level and follow the advice that you receive. If you are uncertain, or you have recently travelled overseas, please contact your health provider, management and please inform our Venue Services Manager, Rodney Lambert.
