Country to Couture celebrates the marriage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contemporary fine art and high-end fashion. This year, there were two incredible runaway shows showcasing 18 fashion collections on the 2nd August 2022.

NIFA Awards Ceremony

Following the Country to Couture Fashion Show, the National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA) was held on 3rd August 2022 to recognise and showcase excellence across six categories. The award ceremony is a unique opportunity for the Australian and international fashion community to connect to the world’s oldest living cultures.

The prestigious awards in 2022 include the:

  • Traditional Adornment Award, supported by Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation
  • Community Collaboration Award, supported by Canberra Centre
  • Business Achievement Award, supported by KIN Fashion
  • Textile Design Award, supported by RMIT
  • Wearable Art Award, supported by the Northern Territory Government
  • Fashion Designer Award, supported by Country Road

Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair

Exciting news was revealed at the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair VIP Cocktail Party hosted at the Darwin Innovation Hub.

DAAF, Darwin Innovation Hub and Paspalis have entered into a partnership to transform the current gallery space to display indigenous artworks in 2023. The gallery will be open to all to come and see in the heart of Darwin’s CBD.
