AIRAH – NT | Seminar: Section J of the NCC

3 September @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm ACST

section j

Get familiar with key changes impacting Section J of the National Construction Code (NCC).

AIRAH presents a full-day seminar series highlighting the key changes to Section J as part of the overhaul and release of the NCC, taking effect in May 2019. It also looks to provide more flexibility on verificaiton options, including NABERS Energy and Green Star to prove compliance against the code.

The updates to Section J are part of a broader strategy, led by the Australian Government, as a result of major research by the Australian Building Construction Board (ABCB). The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the energy effiency of the country’s building stock by 40 per cent by 2030. It also looks to provide more flexibility on verification options, including NABERS Energy and Green Star, to prove compliance against the code.

This seminar and workshop will include:

  • An overview of the major changes to Section J
  • How this affects the HVAC&R industry and building services sector
  • How industry can comply and adapt to the changes
  • A workshop with focus on Seciton J calculations and worked examples.

This seminar and workshop will also feature discussion on:

Improving the current reference building Verification Method (JV3) Formally recognising NABERS Energy and Green Star as alternative Verification Methods Simplifying the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions Introducing basic comfort levels for building occupants
Building envelope thermal performance calculations Glazing and façade calculations Average daylight factor Section J5 pump and fan pressure calculations
Greenhouse gas emissions factors Blower door testing and Infiltration measurements Water heater system calculations Ancillary energy assessments
