
INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES TOP END INTENSIVE – JULY 2019
In the UN’s International Year of Indigenous Languages, why not spend two weeks learning about the languages of Australia’s First Peoples.
Charles Darwin University is working in collaboration with the Australian National University and Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education to offer the Indigenous Languages ‘Top End Intensive’ in Darwin in July 2019.
When: A two-week intensive block from 8-19 July 2019
Where: Charles Darwin University, Casuarina campus (Darwin)
Cost: $1200 per person
(HECS-HELP available for enrolled students)

Attend as a Higher Education student: HECS-HELP applies if you are studying in a Commonwealth Supported place. If you are an enrolled student at CDU or another university, then in most cases you would be required to pay the HECS-HELP fee which may vary slightly from institution to institution.
UNITS
Linguistics for Indigenous Languages
This unit is an introduction to the scientific study of language through a focus on Australia’s Indigenous languages. You will gain an introductory understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of linguistics and how languages work, including sound production and sound systems, parts of speech, grammatical relations in words and sentences, and meaning.
This forms part of the INL100 unit Linguistics for Indigenous Languages 1 accredited through CDU/Batchelor Institute.
ENROLMENT OPTIONS
CDU students
If you are already enrolled as a CDU student, check with your course coordinator to make sure the unit fits into your study plan, and enrol in the Semester offering of the appropriate unit.
Students from other universities
If you are a student at another university in Australia, you will need to:
- Get approval from your Course Coordinator and then fill in the appropriate form from your university
- Complete the relevant incoming Cross-Institutional forms from CDU

What if I’m not an enrolled student?
If you are not an enrolled university student you can participate via workshop mode.
All workshop participation incurs a $1200 fee for the two week program of your choice.
