Liandra Swim Opens The Australian Fashion Week’s Next Gen Runway
It has been a sensational Australian Fashion Week for Paspalis Innovation Investment Fund (PIIF) Investee Company Liandra Swim.
Liandra Gaykamangu opened the AAFW Next Gen Runway show on Friday, 19th May 2023 with her fashion label, Liandra Swim. This was the first time an Indigenous designer had showcased a stand-alone Indigenous brand since the AAFW was founded 27 years ago.
A runway show at Carriageworks featured Liandra Swim, Cameron Hill, Ruby Pedder and Xi Wu Studio. In addition to their design experience, the four Next Gen Program winners were selected for their ability to use fashion as a means of conveying important social issues that influence culture by harnessing its power.
As seen at her show, Liandra’s resort wear designs are phenomenal and can be paired with accessories. Her designs have evolved from just swimwear to include resort wear that is inspired by Aboriginal Australian culture. Liandra Swim apparel can be purchased on the official website, at David Jones and The Iconic.

As a way of showing support and connecting Liandra with industry influencers, PIIF invited investors, stakeholders, and executives to attend the Next Gen Runway. Paspalis CEO Harley Paroulakis and CMO Karmen Karamanian attended the Next Gen Runway and both said it was an amazing event.
“To have an opportunity to be spotlighted and acknowledged as an up-and-coming designer to watch … that’s really important.”
