Quantum 1 Singapore’s first space capsule launched from Alice Springs

Quantum 1

Congratulations to Marvyn Lim Seng & the IN.Genius Team on yesterday’s launch albeit the mid air abortion. To achieve a strato-manned launch is remarkable! Quantum 1 Singapore’s first space capsule was launched south west of Alice Springs on Friday 31 May 2019 at 0645.

Marvyn attempted to cross the 20 km Armstrong line, entering the edge of space. After spending 19 minutes ascending at 7m/s, and attaining over 24,000 ft the Mission was aborted due to the capsule depressurisation. This was caused by a ground impact during the Maiden Launch take off.

Marvyn Lim Seng Founder of IN.Genius, a Singaporean high-tech startup company, took 3-4 years to design, build and certify the system which comprises of three demonstrator capsules with its suite of electronics, sensors and data links.

We all feel very privileged to have met Marvyn in Singapore then to spend time with him and his team in Alice Springs – one of those most memorable experiences. The Darwin Innovation Hub looks forward to following his future Space-related projects
