Bruce Munro: Tropical Light exhibition has helped draw locals and visitors alike to the CBD in a boost for local businesses.
Darwin businesses were encouraged to create tailor-made Tropical Light-themed products through an industry development initiative run by Tourism NT. Many did so and have leveraged the increase in visitors to the CBD since the eight illuminated sculptures were installed.
Businesses that have noticed an increase in customers include Trampoline Gelato, The Cav and Lazy Susan’s Eating House.
Other entrepreneurs, including Darwin artist Paul Arnold and members of the Darwin City Waterfront Retailers Association, have noticed their involvement in Tropical Light has created new opportunities for them.
