The Innovate with nbn™ Grants Program is back

Innovate with nbn Grants Program

Applications are now open for the 2021 Innovate with nbn™ Grants Program, with $95,000 in total funding up for grabs to support regional and remote businesses.

nbn™ Grants Program is designed to support regional and remote businesses. Businesses throughout regional and remote Australia continue to face wide-reaching challenges that have been rarely experienced before.

Even with all this adversity, regional businesses are still striving to maintain their competitiveness and relevance through innovation and determination.

In 2020, nbn™ developed the Innovate with nbn™ Grants Program, in partnership with the Regional Australia Institute (RAI). Now in its second year, the program will again recognise and showcase regional and remote businesses, who are:

  • Innovators or entrepreneurs inspiring others in their community
  • Champions of digital adoption
  • Continuing to facilitate the digital capabilities and benefits of the nbn™ network
  • Advocates of supporting regional businesses

Through this grant program, nbn™ aim to encourage those businesses from regional or remote areas with their technology-led ideas, with the aim of facilitating and supporting further growth.

Grant Categories

This year the Innovate with nbn™ Grants Program offers seven specific categories and an overall Champion award. Categories include Agriculture, Arts, Education, Health, Indigenous Business, Tourism and Women in Regional Business.

Each grant category aims to recognise and celebrate regional businesses who are overcoming challenges with innovation, connectivity and networking within their communities. The program will award one grant of $10,000 to an organisation or business project aligned with each of the categories.

Applications are only open to one category. Additionally, one regional/remote business will be recognised and awarded with the ‘Innovate with nbn™ Champion award’ worth $25,000.

To be eligible, entrants must be connected to the nbn™ network, located in regional Australia, have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and an Australian bank account (corresponding to the ABN) and can only apply for one category.

Applications close on 30th November 2021.

Previous overall champion of Innovate with nbn™ Grants Program: WUNA (HoldAccess)

Last year, one of Darwin Innovation Hub’s start-up won this grant. Using a digital platform, WUNA (HoldAccess) is helping Indigenous Australians stay connected to their culture and identity with help from nbn™ connectivity. Read their story HERE.
